plusnil（プラスニル）は、日本のアバンギャルド・プログレッシブメタルシーンの先駆的バンド「DOOM」のベーシストであるアベユキヤと、クラシック音楽をバックグラウンドに持つ鍵盤奏者・ポコによる2人組の電子音響ユニット。
エレクトロニカ、ダークアンビエント、ポストロック、そしてトリップホップの境界を静かに融解させる、唯一無二のインストゥルメンタル・サウンドを展開する。
Mogwaiを彷彿とさせるダイナミックかつ緻密な音響構築のなかに、ミック・カーンや諸田コウのソロワークスを思わせるアベユキヤのフレットレスベースの浮遊感のあるうねりと、ポコが奏でるピッコロベースの繊細な旋律が交差し、独自のアイデンティティを放つ。さらに、美しくレイヤーされたシンセサイザーのデジタルクオリティと、セミの鳴き声や風の音といった環境音（フィールドレコーディング）がオーガニックに溶け込み、リスナーを圧倒的な映像体験へと没入させる。

日本のアバンギャルド・プログレッシブメタルシーンの先駆的バンド「DOOM」のベーシスト。ステンレス指板のフレットレスベースを操り、独自のプレイスタイルと圧倒的な重低音でシーンに多大な影響を与え続けている。plusnilにおいては、変則的なチューニングの5弦フレットレスベースを用いた浮遊感のある変幻自在なアプローチを軸に、リズム楽器の枠を超えた「主役としての低音」で唯一無二の世界観の土台を築く。
ポコ (Poko) – Keyboards / Synthesizers / Piccolo Bass
クラシック音楽を基礎（ベース）に持つ鍵盤奏者、コンポーザー。美しく洗練されたピアノの旋律から緻密なシンセサイザーのレイヤー、環境音と電子音響を融合させたシネマティックな空間設計を得意とする。さらにplusnilにおいては、繊細で透明感のある高音域を奏でるピッコロベースをも操り、ユニットのサウンドに唯一無二の陰影と彩りを与える。

A cinematic soundscape that spins an unseen, imaginary film in the listener’s mind.
plusnil is a two-piece electro-acoustic unit formed by Yukiya Abe (bassist of the pioneering Japanese avant-garde progressive metal band “DOOM”) and Poko (a keyboardist and composer with a foundation in classical music). Together, they quietly dissolve the boundaries between electronica, dark ambient, post-rock, and trip-hop to create unique instrumental music.
Within a dynamic and meticulous sonic architecture reminiscent of Mogwai, the floating, undulating curves of Yukiya Abe’s fretless bass—evoking the solo works of Mick Karn and Koh Morota—and the delicate tones of the piccolo bass played by Poko carve out a distinct identity. Meticulous layers of synthesizers seamlessly blend with organic field recordings, such as the sound of cicadas and the wind, immersing the listener in an overwhelming visual experience.
Extending beyond the music itself, they self-produce all their own artwork and integrate synchronized visual projections into their live performances, presenting their vision as a complete multimedia art form. Yukiya Abe – Bass / Electronics
Bassist for the pioneering Japanese avant-garde progressive metal band “DOOM.” Wielding a fretless bass with a stainless steel fingerboard, he has long influenced the scene with his unique playing style and overwhelming low-end presence. In plusnil, he utilizes a 5-string fretless bass with irregular tuning to deliver a floating, ever-changing approach, moving beyond the traditional role of rhythm to establish the foundation of their unique world with a “low-end as the protagonist.”
Poko – Keyboards / Synthesizers / Piccolo Bass
A keyboardist and composer rooted in classical music. Poko excels in cinematic spatial design, weaving beautiful, refined piano melodies, intricate synthesizer layers, and fusing field recordings with electronic soundscapes. In plusnil, Poko also plays the piccolo bass, delivering delicate, transparent high-register tones that add a unique contrast and vibrant color to the unit’s signature sound.
